George Eustis, Jr. (September 28, 1828 – March 15, 1872) was an American lawyer and politician. ==Biography== He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 28, 1828, the eldest son of George Eustis, Sr. (1796–1858) and Clarice Allain. His father was a lawyer who served as a Chief Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court. His brother, James Biddle Eustis, was a United States Senator. George Jr. married Louise Morris Corcoran (1838–1867), the daughter of William Wilson Corcoran. They were the parents of two sons, William Corcoran Eustis and George Peabody Eustis, and a daughter, Louise Mary, who married steeplechase horse racing trainer, Thomas Hitchcock. George Eustis, Jr. graduated from Jefferson College in Convent, Louisiana and obtained a law degree from Harvard University Law School. He was a member of Congress and then later secretary to John Slidell during the Civil War. He became a member of the United States House of Representatives representing Louisiana. He served two terms as a member of the anti-immigration American Party. He was later Secretary of the Confederate mission in Paris. He died in Cannes, France on March 15, 1872. His body was brought to the United States and interred in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
